Jackie,
I was thinking more about your burlesque performance, and decided to send you my thoughts.
I thought that your initial presentation, with the zany mermaid outfit was absolutely stunning! Then including the rollerblades was a really, really graceful touch – looked beautiful. As I think you intended, the part with where your ripped off your mermaid legs (only to still be shackled by the mer-skin) and then hacked the baby was upsetting. I also felt a bit sad because I imagine that in some sense part of you is the baby, so you are hacking yourself in addition to the baby. On the other hand, the resolution, with a mer–baby was hopeful.
Overall, it was very creative and full of emotion. I imagine that if you took the strength of the costume and rollerblades and put it into something that was not as “violent” the performance would be a super crowd pleaser, but that probably isn’t your goal!!
